Human Trust gives people the power to surpass the limits of believing1). It allows to individually choose what things to look for and how important they are, while all of that is considered in a current context. Humans can do it instantaneously. That is how we can make decisions fast.
This speed comes with the cost of mistakes, but Human Trust quickly adapts. The results of our choices are observed, and if necessary, the mix is adjusted for when it's needed next time, since “the ultimate trustworthiness” is nothing humans are good at.
The Components Human Trust is composed of allow us to deal with almost any social situation. It is disputed, sometimes moody, and it is far from perfect. However, everyone can use it. There are no magic constructs, no secret keys2), and if anything turns out to be wrong, entire societies are able to regret their misplaced trust and adjust their behaviour at a very short notice.
Given that we use our smart phones and computers as extensions of ourselves, allowing them to represent us in a connected society, wouldn't it make sense for them to behave exactly the same way that we, their legitimate and often legal owners, ourselves would?
